About Medicine Department
The department of Medicine is one of the largest and diversified
clinical departments in Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College &
Hospital. It is serving for both inpatient and outpatient care with a
very good reputation for last several decades in this hospital. Always a
huge number of people are getting treatment by doctors working in
medicine department and the bed occupancy rate by patients admitted
under this department is maximum for many years.
The department is
conducting an organized academic activities and clinical teaching
programme for both undergraduate and post graduate students routinely.
The undergraduate course curriculum consists of regular lectures and
tutorial classes, patient oriented clinical demonstration classes in
medicine ward, item and card examinations, ward final examinations,
assessment examination before final professional exam and conducting
final professional examination under the University of Dhaka.
Before
final professional examinations students must attend an extensive block
posting programme which includes morning round with consultants, day
long clinical teaching and evening time tutorial classes for 6(six)
months in different batches. This type of programme refreshes the
knowledge of final year students and prepares them satisfactorily for
final professional examination. The department has 2 (two) excellent
fully air-conditioned tutorial classes in the hospital for clinical
students. There are also a good collection of teaching materials like
ECG tracing, X-ray, CT scan and MRI films, several instruments and
pathological specimens for tutorial classes.
The teachers and
consultants of this department are efficient with the highest
postgraduate medical qualifications from home and abroad, dynamic and
energetic. They have diverse experiences and expertise and are always
ready to teach and guide the students. The objectives of teaching by the
department of Medicine is to develop basic skills and knowledge of
internal medicine among future doctors in order to fulfill the basic
health needs of mass people.
